Ending Homelessness with a Local Homelessness Trust Fund, an Alternative Human Service Survival Strategy for Cambridge,MA!

Peace Be Unto You,

Hello Everybody, I’m Hasson Rashid, I reside at 820 Mass. Ave. My public Comment is on Hearing Scheduled, Unfinished Business I.#4, Communications I#2, Policy Order/Resolution List I#7-8.

At my last public comment, I stated that Christopher Columbus was a man of color, well since hat time, I have uncovered information that lay claim of Columbus being born at Genoa, Italy, and that DNA analysis of the his remains, done by forensic scientist at the University of Cambridge, revealed he was 100 % of color.

A Homelessness Trust Fund and Task Force(HTF/HTFTF) are an alternative/ evidence base human service strategy and method, to be applied toward ending homelessness. According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 25(1), “ Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for health and well being." Homelessness reflects the statewide local housing crisis, deficit, and gap, and has led to a public health crisis.

Several weeks ago at the State House I joined in on calling Massachusetts lawmakers to declare a State of Emergency to End Homelessness, taking immediate actions to help stop the crisis! Its self evident that a wellness index is unnecessary when it comes measuring or analyzing homelessness, The recent triple AAA Cambridge bond raring is also self evident, the use of a wellness index is questionable.

There is an agenda item today that speaks of a Non-Citizen Representative to City Council, what about a Homeless Citizen Liaison? I though that type of work was designated out to an Ecumenical Assembly of local chaplains. All of them Christians, truly not representative of, or reflecting Cambridge’s ethnic diversity, etc.. What about a Homeless Citizen Liaison?

During the up coming City Council Roundtable/ Working Meeting with the School Committee, I would like to see conversation and discussion, included that will reflect on ideas relating to piloting a new curriculum, that explores the link between homelessness and poverty. This should also be included in upcoming debates between or about charter and public schools here in Cambridge.

Finally, I would like to see the alternative human strategies (HTF/HTFTF) that I have been commenting on, considered for and included as budget priorities too for the upcoming fiscal years. Thank you.
