With the mainstream mass media feeding us stereotypes of manly men eating Burger King cheeseburgers, women obsessed with runny makeup, white gay men shopping and decorating, sensationalized peaks into the lives of transgender people, and a near black-out on lesbians altogether, what is at stake, and how are we affected? Are we being sold gender ideals and norms, and if so, how do we know? Media depictions of gender roles and sexuality stereotypes have changed over the past two decades, but is it for the better or for the worse, or is it just different? Join moderator Andi Sutton and guests Nancy Nangeroni, Lisa Henderson, Dr. Brecken Chinn Swartz, and James Nadeau on Thursday, February 15, from 8-9 p.m. as they engage in what should be a very interesting and timely discussion of gender, sexuality and media.
