CCTV’s Youth Media Program is hosting Project CREATE, a new weekly film challenge:

  • Get your prompt each Monday at 10AM EST
  • Videos must be 30 seconds to 3 minutes long maximum.
  • Any form of camera will do! Phones, webcams, digital cameras, it all works.
  • Choose a film genre: documentary, action, drama, comedy, vlogs, TikTok challenges, animation, etc.
  • GET CREATIVE! There are so many free animation, video editing, and social media apps that can help bring your story to life. Try them all! (See resources below.)
  • Send us your final video by 5PM EST on Friday to be considered as a top video of the week. Submit your video HERE!; you will need a parent or guardian's permission.
  • Compete against fellow Cambridge youth for your chance to win a pizza pie delivery to your house! Winners will be announced on Fridays via CCTV's Instagram and Twitter!

For each challenge, three winners will be showcased the the next day, Tuesday, 5PM EST on Channel 8 and streamed on CCTV’s website. Runners up will be screened two days later, on Thursday, at 5PM EST.


CHALLENGE WEEK 3: GREEN DAY (Mon, May 11th to Fri, May 22nd *You have 2 weeks to produce!

  • For the second challenge you have 2 weeks to produce your own film inspired by the color GREEN.
  • That's literally all you have to do.
  • Submit your video by 5PM on Friday, May 8th for your chance to win a pizza pie delivery to your house!

Free Editing Software

  • OpenShot Video Editor: A nice, free, basic editing software available for at-home use. It's great for folks new to editing!
  • iMovie (if you're on a Mac/iPhone)
  • Snapchat, TikTok, Instagram are all fair game too.

For participants interested in advanced approaches to filmmaking, try Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro X. Heads up, these involve $$$

CCTV has so many resources for you and your friends to check out once the city opens up again, from studio TV, fully equipped editing suites, digital cameras, to virtual reality equipment. Until we can see you in person, stay active and creative and send us your stories!
