It's Mirantulous

It's Mirantulous

Hello everyone, on this beautiful day I'm extremely happy to announce that last night's BZA hearings were quite amazing in many ways...
First and foremost, the Mirant case regarding the boardwalk was approved. Second, their application for a variance to install a 2nd Jet Engine was declined. In both cases a tremendous success for the community.
I'm sure, by now, you're asking but... but... what happened... Well here it is... Mirant came to the BZA with an alternative plan to build the walkway in the Broadway Canal... The new plan, a revision of the original, was to finish the last 3rd, maybe a little more, of the boardwalk 15 feet away from their bank. This would alleviate their "security" concerns and abide to the requirement for a boardwalk, included as mitigation, in their 2000 variance. The residents voiced their concerns and support and the board approved it. So, hopefully within the next year there will be a beautiful boardwalk on Broadway...Canal. It's wicked cool...
But -- there is always a but-- lots of works remains for Mirant to be successful. They will need the support of the community. So, dear neighbors, if you want a boardwalk on Broadway...Canal, you'll need to help, show up at the meeting when needed... I'll keep you posted on where and when...it's all underground and very secret ;)...so don't tell anyone...

Information will also be available on ECPT website : http://www.eastcambridge.org/

I could stop right now but I have to relate another amazing thing...The "System" works quite beautifully when we all participate...
The BZA, repeatedly, made clear how much they value the input of the community. Their job is difficult and without our input, decisions, always based on their best judgement, are made without a full knowledge of the community impact!
Why?
Because we don't show up!...
Mirant, lets give them something,
Reinforced our community
United in the desire
To see the promised boardwalk built
To the BZA we went
Our voices were heard...
Not just the usual
of die hards,
many more...
The BZA started learning...
better understanding
we show up, they listen...
It wasn't always like that...
Or was it?

It was fun... also taped the proceedings so look for a couple video blogs, in a couple of weeks... before i finally leave for today... To all present last night, RESPECT!
