It is hard to imagine - hard to believe - but we have actually opened our beautiful new facility at 438 Massachusetts Avenue. Thanks to everyone who has helped us along the way, thanks to all of you who have donated and just shared your excitement with us over the past few years.
This is a photo of the new cablecast area, where Dr. Lawrence Ferrara doing the very first BeLive in the new facility!
We are still unpacking and construction is not yet complete, so our hours of operation are trimmed just a bit: 4-9PM on Sundays, 2-9pm Monday through Thursday, and 2-6pm on Friday. We will let you know in the next week or two when to stop by for a tour, but if you need to edit, use computerCENTRAL or take out equipment, we are open for business!

Last night, CCTV closed the doors at the current location - as we dismantle BeLive, the studio, the radio room and computerCENTRAL, we are looking ahead with great excitement to our new digs at 438 Mass Ave, just up the street near our great neighbors the Central Square Theater, the Dance Complex, and MIT. We are hoping for an opening on July 10 for some services, but check back here....you know how these things go! (Photo by Tim Plenk)

The annual Hometown Video Festival, sponsored by the Alliance for Community Media, is a national festival of Public, Educational and Governmental access programming from around the country. Hometown awards showcase programming with the greatest community relevance and impact, celebrating producers who address content that mainstream media typically does not, including material that is meaningful for their communities.
For the 10th time, CCTV has received the Overall Excellence in Public Access Programming award in our budget division (access centers with budgets over $650,000)!
Two of our programs were also honored with top awards. A CCTV-produced documentary by JP DiSciscio, Lloyd Smith and Easton Smith about local photographer Elsa Dorfman took the top prize in the Visual Arts Non-Professional category, and in the About Access Non-Professional category, the documentary Summer Media Institute 2010, produced by Andualem Wondafresh, also took first place.

On June 3, the concrete was poured for the floating slab that will be the main production studio floor. What is this? Because our new studio is located above the subway, extraordinary acoustic engineering is required. The floors of the two live sets and the main studio are isolated from any walls, so that vibrations and noise will not travel into the production spaces. In the case of the main studio, there are springs placed in boxes within the cement, which will raise the floor off of the steel beams that are holding it up!
