Head to the streets for the 20th Cambridge Carnival on Sunday, September 9, 2012 RAIN OR SHINE!
Celebrate with the entire Cambridge community, our neighbors in surrounding cities and visitors from afar. Put on your dancing shoes and get ready for the best Carnival ever!
The parade route spans 1.3 miles, starts at 12:30pm on Blackstone Street between Western Avenue and River Street near the Charles River. The parade runs up River Street, passes through Central Square along Massachusetts Avenue, continues up Main Street and ends in Kendall Square near MIT. There are music stages all along the route.
Cambridge Carnival is Rain or Shine, just like it is in the Islands and tropics, so put on your rain gear and join in. We’ll be there! Please check cambridgecarnival.org for updates as the weather progresses.

CCTV joins the entire public access movement in mourning the passing of George C. Stoney. Long considered the Father of Public Access, Stoney was a documentary filmmaker who passionately believed in the creation of media by those long ignored in the mainstream. His groundbreaking documentary about an African American midwife, All My Babies, is in the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress. George's obituary may be found here. In this photo, George celebrated his 96th birthday at a party on July 1, with his good friend Rika Welsh, board member of CCTV.
