I have been involved in community media since 1976, working to ensure that everyone has access to the tools and technologies needed to participate in civic life. I joined the staff of Cambridge Community Television when it opened in 1988, and became Executive Director in 1993.

This year, there will be 5 elected openings on the Board, which will be filled at the Annual Meeting. 2 of the 5 will be one-year terms for Member Representatives. Individuals are sought who broadly represent the communities served by CCTV. December 18, 2012 - 3:57pm The Board of Directors and staff of CCTV mourn the loss of founding NeighborMedia correspondent and community activist Karen Klinger. The following was written by Karen's friend and NeighborMedia colleague Susan Hunziker: Karen Klinger was my neighbor. We’d lived in Porter Square for many years before our paths crossed at a block party in 1995. The conversation centered on the rumored renovations to the local shopping center. The Porter Square Neighbors Association was formed a couple weeks later; Karen was elected secretary, and I became treasurer. In the years that followed, we sat together at many long and dull meetings about various projects, and on the way home Karen could always summarize the events and assess their significance without having to glance at her copious notes. If she wasn’t born with this skill, she developed it over many years as a print journalist. Before she came to Boston, Karen covered the science beat for the San Jose Mercury. Karen could sit through hours of bloviation and walk away with the important details and significant statements. To make this happen, we need help from the Cambridge science community. If your organization has produced or has the rights to show non-commercial science-themed videos to feature during the Science Festival programming block on CCTV, please send them our way!To submit videos to CCTV to be shown on CCTV's Channels: --Put your video on a DVD or direct us to an FTP site for download --Complete and sign the Cablecast Agreement Form --Send the DVD and form, or indicate an FTP site from which an h.264 or MPG2 file may be downloaded, to Chris Lawn at Cambridge Community Television, 438 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02139, by MARCH 31, 2013.
