Gunshots on my Lawn
August 26, 2008 - 3:25pm — Sister BeeI was in a community computer lab in the Port/Area 4 ‘round 3:40 pm on August 24th when I heard “pop pop BANG pop pop…” Suddenly every eye turned from their typing and gaming with an alarmed look that hurled the question “Was that gunshots?” I rushed outside selfishly praying there were no ‘bodies’. After all, my child, my nephew, and 98 other youth attend camps in the immediate area of the shooting - and at least a hundred others play at parks daylong. So in my panic I only thought of “The Babies!!!!”….
At least ten other neighbors cautiously spilled out into the streets, fear furrowing our eyebrows, as we witnessed two camp councilors with 20 kids rush from Clement Morgan Park “come on hurry!!!” they uttered while fast tracking their way back to a “safe spot”…Community members discussed what they saw, and we all unified in our fear and our mutual concern for each other as we spoke about the audacity of folks shooting Gunshots on our lawns. read more...

Charles River
August 9, 2008 - 7:48pm — ColinI shot this video today while strolling along the Charles River. I thought I'd participate in the Videoblogging Production course I'm teaching by shooting my own short video on a location in Cambridge. This video is the result.
I noticed that the Flip Mino works best for close-up shots. The zoom makes images look blurry. But, with the music I used from Wicked Allstars the video has a certain quality all its own.
Enjoy!

FreeGeek Boston . . . Please?
August 8, 2008 - 1:32pm — ColinHere's a terrific video produced for FreeGeek Chicago, which is . . .
"a not-for-profit community organization that recycles used computers and parts to provide functional computers, education, internet access and job skills training to the underserved communities of Chicago in exchange for community service."
This model of community-supported computer and broadband access would be awesome for the City of Cambridge.
Any takers?
Call me at 617-661-6900 and let's see if we can get something started here in Cambridge . . . I'm serious.

My Personal Narrative...Final Product!
July 31, 2008 - 10:46am — RoseHello everybody!
Finally my personal narrative is finished. Although it is not my best work I find it very emotionally interesting. The process of creating my project let me learn a lot about final cut pro, using the camera, and other things. I'm really excited that it's finished because now it's Final Project Time!
