Hurricane Ike plowed into Texas yesterday, driving the Gulf of Mexico's waters into Galveston Island, blowing out office-building windows and cutting power to at least 4.5 million people in the Houston area.

In response to Hurricane Ike's landfall along the Gulf Coast, the Red Cross is providing shelter, food and emotional support for thousands in need. Those affected by disaster are relying on us for emergency aid in their toughest times - especially now in the peak of hurricane season.

As Hurricane Gustav approaches and Gulf Coast residents evacuate their communities, our thoughts and prayers go out to those who are affected by this situation. Mayor Ray Nagin has announced a mandatory evacuation for the City of New Orleans today, Sunday, August 31st. If you are in the New Orleans area, please contact the state emergency hotline at 1-866-288-2484 if you need more information or go to the State of Louisiana site for an updated list of evacuations by parish. Peter Watchorn, an Australian-born harpsichordist, Cambridge resident and new faculty member at Boston College, speaks about this pending natural disaster and the need for the government and nation not to repeat the mistakes of Hurricane Katrina. I/ In A Beyond-Conscious Nutshell

My intent is to open minds, question everything, learn, educate, forge an even sense of spirituality and Humane bound within myself and those i am able to touch or be touched by-We all are as human as we get, shadeless or Green-Purple-Pink-O-ALL- Licious complexions, and so forth (which should not matter to one non-brainwashed and conservatively conformist mindset). I hope to continue to learn, love, be the vessel i was chosen to be in this lifetime and perhaps even the next, and the next, and the one after the one...
