From Free Press:
"Last August, Gov. Deval Patrick signed a bill that provides $40 million to connect thousands of Western Massachusetts residents to affordable high-speed Internet. The build-out plan is still being developed and the Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI) is looking for ideas about how best to bring broadband to the unserved and underserved communities of Western Massachusetts. We believe that this kind of public investment must carry with it strong public interest protections. We are asking the MBI to adopt a set of public interest principles to guide the project and ensure that it serves our communities.
Help us send a strong message that our public dollars must fund a future-proof Internet that truly serves our communities and is free from corporate gatekeepers. Sign on now.
