I was just thinking how great it would be if, instead of throwing up road blocks, we would encourage this sort of innovation. I've heard about competitions for green homes, fuel efficient cars, etc. Why not a competition to develop specs for an energy producing home with the quickest ROI? The program could be sponsored by the USFG with a $1 mil prize and all of the specs would need to be freely available and patent free so that manufacturers would be encouraged to copy them.
We have to ask ourselves why we are doing this? What is the primary reason? If it is to gain the quickest ROI,..pitch a tent or live in a simple hut. If its to use resources that are available, wind, solar, geo-thermal, that produce the least waste for ourselves(planet), then lets focus on that. We have to start thinking and acting that put money reasons 2nd or third. Certainly, money is a part of our lives and currency is important, and allows us to experience great things, we could probably focus on better reasonings.
