Getting the Word Out

jump.jpg

This week I was finally able to get to the business of reaching out to our participants in the Digital Divide project and offering some new opportunities for further training. With all of the necessary preliminary work done and a better awareness about how things work here at CCTV I was able to implement everything in the form of direct contact with those we are hoping to help. I left many messages, got a few call backs, and ended up talking to a handful of people one-on-one. Most seemed very enthusiastic, and there were a few that asked to view the upcoming schedule. The most common concern, of course, was having the time to devote to such an endeavor. Hopefully they will be able to find time in their schedules to come and learn more about media-making as a next step towards producing their own media. read more...

The Change Message Resonates With Young People

The New York Times recruited student reporters from colleges and universities across the country to report on student reaction to Friday night's Presidential Debate. The reviews are in: Senator Obama's message of change, relief to middle class families, and a smart foreign policy continues to resonate with young people. I will let our local Cambridge resident, Neil McMullen explain why. He speaks about turning 18 years old and voting for the first time with his naturalized United States citizen mother and older brother. Neil offers some insightful and personal feelings about democracy in America and the right to vote in the land of the free. I will be reporting on these final days of Presidential Debates and Election 2008...please follow video blogs. Be live...Be there

Presidential DebateWatch 2008

At the first 2008 Presidential Debate, Barack Obama emerged as a candidate who was at least as knowledgeable, judicious and unflappable as John McCain on foreign policy ... and more knowledgeable, and better suited to deal with the economic crisis and domestic problems the country faces. Barack Obama seemed very presidential. Cambridge residents attending a Presidential DebateWatch party share their thoughts after spending an evening together watching both candidates speak directly to the American voters. I have the wonderful honor and opportunity to volunteer as a CCTV Intern and will participate as a Citizen Journalist in the CCTV's NeighborMedia Program and in the spirit of service to our community, I will be reporting on these final days of Presidential Debates and Election 2008...please follow video blogs. "Zionism as Racism", the dialectic of Jeckel and Hyde aspects of modern Zionism as a racist movement.

Audio coming soon... Joel Kovel, distinguished Professor of Barth College, takes the listener through the historical and culture=political aspects of Zionism. The interview, brilliantly executed, employs the dialectical method to uncover the deeper nature of racism as practiced in modern Israel. The listener discovers how ideology clouds insight by imposing a distorted preconception over the brutalization of an entire people. And how the rationalization of such brutality is manufactured by a modern political clique in whose interest it functions.
The WZBC interview was part of the weekly 4 hour "Truth and Justice Radio" program Sunday's from 6 to 10 am on 90.3 FM and was first broadcast 20 January 2008.
We invite and encourage our listeners to post comment on this tutorial.
