All About CCTV

CCTV's Mission: Cambridge Community Television is a public forum for all Cambridge residents, businesses and organizations. CCTV provides training and access to telecommunications technology so that all may become active participants in electronic media. CCTV strives to involve the diverse population of Cambridge as producers and viewers, and to strengthen its efforts through collaborations with a wide variety of community institutions.

The Community We Serve

Demographics Cambridge is an ethnically and socio-economically diverse city. 32% of the residents are people of color. Fourteen percent are African-American; 8% are Asian; 7% are of Latino background; and 3% are of other races including Native American Indian. Since 1980, many newcomers have arrived from Haiti and other parts of the Caribbean, Portugal, Cape Verde, Brazil, the Azores and the countries of Central America and Southeast Asia. Students from 64 nationalities attend public schools here; their families speak 46 different languages. It is important to note that these US Census statistics do not accurately reflect the full diversity of Cambridge, as we are also a sanctuary city and there are many undocumented refugees who live here. Special Programs and Initiatives

Cambridge Community Television is a dynamic and responsive community organization frequently creating and adapting initiatives within our city. Here is an overview of the community and media based programs operated and supported by CCTV.

NeighborMedia

NeighborMedia is CCTV's citizen media project that empowers local residents into produce media about issues affecting their neighborhoods. All work produced by correspondents is uploaded to the NeighborMedia section of our site, and aired on CCTV's cable channels.

Youth Media Program

CCTV's Youth Media Program is designed to teach Cambridge teens media making and career readiness skills, as they work as media artists. The program is comprised of two components: the Summer Media Institute and the School Year Production Program.

Board, Honorary Board and MAC

CCTV is governed by a 13-person Board of Directors. Directors serve for a term of 2 years. The Members Advisory Committee serves as liason between the members of CCTV and the staff and Board of Directors. Each year, two people are elected to serve on each of five Board committees; these ten people constitute the Members Advisory Committee. read more...
